Nurse (RN) (Location: Woodlawn, MD)

Position type: Full-time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The overall purpose of this position is to provide medical case management for individuals to assure their health, safety and well being, to assure the implementation and delivery of the delegated nursing functions and care in compliance with the applicable Code of Maryland Regulations and as set forth in each individual’s Nursing Care Plan.Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring of Medication Administration
  • Assuring Nursing Functions are delegated in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Upon completion of the Initial Assessment, formulating appropriate nursing diagnoses and developing and implementing a Nursing Plan of Care
  • Completing 45-day assessments on each individual
  • Serving as on-call point of contact for medical concerns
  • Performing on-going medical assessments and monitoring as required
  • Serving as ongoing liaison with all consulting health care practitioners for issues regarding individuals’ health care needs
  • Performing ongoing individualized in-services with staff. Serving as liaison with pharmacy

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A valid State of Maryland R.N. License
  • Successful completion of all DDA and NCIA required training
  • Possession of a current Health Care Provider CPR Certification
  • Ability to interact positively with individuals, co-workers, community residents, family, advocates and Agency staff
  • Ability to provide direction and leadership to subordinate staff
  • Ability to provide instruction, training and support to staff and developmentally disabled individuals
  • Ability to function independently as a delegating Registered Nurse

Nursing Supervisor

Summary of Position: Responsible for supervising the provision of medical and nursing services of all clients living in CBAI residential programs.

Education Required: Associates of Arts in Nursing, Bachelors Degree preferred and/or experience that demonstrates the ability to provide the services in this description.

Skills Required: Superior organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work with basic software such as MSWord and MS Excel. Requires excellence in supervision, task assignments and following through on assigned tasks of subordinates. Requires the ability to constructively communicate with co-workers on different staffing levels and management levels. Requires the ability to be flexible.

Experience Required: Requires experience in working with chronic and seriously mentally ill and/or people with developmental disabilities. Experience is helpful with DDA programs and regulations.

Physical Requirements: Light; mostly sedentary, some walking, occasional lifting up to 15-20 pounds.

Work Environment: Mostly inside; requires some travel to and from various residential sites to examine clients, train staff, and monitor compliance. On occasion, providing intervention or leading intervention in difficult behavioral events. Stressful work environment due o on call and the serious responsibility of maintaining medical services for clients with multiple problems.

Essential Functions:

  • Assure the completion of all required nursing documentation (initial assessments, 45-day nursing care plan reviews), follow-up on significant medical and or psychiatric complaints with our providers such as hospitals
  • Act as Delegating Nurse/ Nurse Case Manager for a small case-load (8-12) while providing supervision
  • Assures the quality assurance standards are maintained and followed up by:
    • Assuring quarterly audits are performed on 25% of the master medical records by the assigned Delegating Nurse and LPN.
    • Attending and participating in the CBAI Quality Assurance meeting
    • Regular audits of residential medical records on site and in the residences
  • On call 24 hours 7 days a week and assure that staff is available and on call
  • Assure the training of staff and accurate medication regimens are carried out
  • Assure medical, dental and specialty appointments are kept and follow-up appointments maintained
  • Assure the availability of necessary medical supplies
  • Maintain medical dispersal system
  • Provides supervision to nursing staff
  • Assures and maintains that professional and regulatory standards are maintained
  • Assures and maintains systems that enhance residents health care and well being
  • Responsible for nutritional  services and medication training, that they are available and carried out
  • Consults/communicates with licensing, regulatory compliance
  • Assure that acts dictated per Maryland Board of Nursing and COMAR as the Delegating Nurse/ Nurse Case Manger are carried out by the assigned nurse
  • Other duties within the scope of nursing supervision as assigned by the Executive Director of CBAI

Additional Functions:

  • Participate in program improvement functions as assigned or tasked
  • Educate staff on medical (residential/nursing) issues as necessary
  • Provide overall medical leadership

Social Worker/Clinical Therapist, Education (Location: Woodlawn, MD)

The Youth in Transition (YIT) School program provides not only educational, but vocational and therapeutic services to our high school students. We are currently accepting applications for the position of Social Worker/Clinical Therapist, to work at our YIT School, providing comprehensive counseling services as specified in the student's IEP.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting individual and group counseling
  • Providing crisis counseling as needed
  • Implementing the Comprehensive School Counseling Program. This program includes but is not limited to counseling, consultation and coordination of services as well as staff development

Requirements:

  • Valid Maryland State License as a Psychologist, LCPC or LCSW-C. LGPC or LGSW accepted with conditions
  • Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling
  • Experience working with maladjusted adolescents or in a special education environment strongly preferred

NCIA is Recruiting for Direct Care Workers

The National Center on Institutions and Alternatives (NCIA) is seeking Direct Care Professionals to supervise, counsel and provide a variety of residential services to our adults with developmental disabilities and youth with special needs.  Our House Managers and Residential Counselors follow specific individual treatment plans, administer medication, teach daily living skills, and provide transportation and document activities and progress occurring during each shift.

Full-time supervisory and full-time, part-time and per diem counselor positions are available in the metropolitan Baltimore area.  Must have weekend availability, have a minimum of high school diploma or GED, reliable transportation and 21 years or older.  NCIA is a drug free environment and pre-employment and random drug testing is conducted, as well as criminal background checks.

Preference will be given to candidates with 2 years of experience working with similar populations and college degree.

Special Education Teachers

We are currently seeking Special Education Teachers in the math content area and for various other subjects.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver appropriate daily and long range lessons that motivate and challenge students according to their ability and actively involved them in the learning experience
  • Keep written evaluations of student performance on tests , quizzes, homework, class work, and class participation -Keep students and parents informed about students performances and behaviors in a timely manner
  • Be receptive to parents’ comments about how they see their children as learners -Be accountable for the location and safety of students, by maintaining a written record of student attendance and by reporting concerns to the office
  • Exhibit skill and care with the school equipment - Set an example for student attitude, respectfulness, courtesy, punctuality, confidentiality, morality, appearance, safety, responsibility and enthusiasm
  • Inform the Director of his/her absence and provide adequate and meaning lessons for substitute -Provide prompt, complete, accurate, and legible records and reports
  • Enforce school policies for student discipline and either resolve or report infractions
  • Help students develop self-discipline and self-control
  • Respond positively to requestor suggestions from administration and accept and implement constructive criticism
  • Seek assistance when appropriate, maintain an up-to-date certificate, and strive for self-improvement by participating in curriculum development, professional organizations, college courses, and exchanging ideas about teaching strategies with other educators
  • Maintain a professional attitude and a positive posture about education to the public
  • Maintain and implement the students IEP for social and academic skills

Requirements:

  • 4 year degree -State of Maryland Special Education Certificate (or eligibility for teacher certification)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Patience, understanding, and creativity
  • Experience with learning disabled and behaviorally challenged adolescents is preferred
