Michael Vick Visits NCIA's Youth in Transition School

On March 9, 2010, Michael Vick visited NCIA's Youth in Transition School to speak with our students. Mr. Vick was in Baltimore to attend the annual Ed Block Courage Awards. He was unanimously voted by his teammates to receive the award, which is really recognition by his peers on how well he's handled the past year's challenges. Mr. Vick addressed an auditorium filled with students and spoke to them on the importance of having the courage to overcome the obstacles each person has to face in life. Michael provided the students with key lessons he's learned from mistakes he's made in the past: believe in yourself, feel fortunate for what you have in life, work hard and surround yourself with good people. Accompanying Mr. Vick was his fiancee, Kijafa Frink. NCIA's CEO Herb Hoelter introduced Michael Vick and gave a summary of his career and efforts he is making to support charitable and community organizations. Mr. Hoelter was an integral part of his defense team and an advisor to Mr. Vick on matters relating to sentencing and prison issues.
