July 1, 2020

Dear Fellow Staff:

On June 12, 2020, I announced that NCIA had extended additional pay to reward our front-line workers, our residential counselors and our job coaches. As a result, we were able to continue to pay an additional $2.50 per hour stipend for all hours worked in a residential home or on a business services contract through July 5, 2020.

Our fiscal year has ended and we are now entering an uncertain financial period where NCIA can no longer afford the $2.50 stipend. We kept it as long as we could but our budget for next year cannot include that extra pay. However, what we are going to try and do is to continue a stipend at a lower level.

As of July 6, 2020 we will be awarding a $1.25 per hour stipend for all hours worked in a residential home or job coaches working on a business services contract through August 2, 2020. In addition, House Managers will also continue to receive a stipend for shifts worked, also at the 50% reduced level. We will evaluate this on a monthly basis, to see if it is financially feasible to continue.

Our employees are doing an incredible job working around the clock to fulfill NCIA’s mission — to care for those most in need, especially during these challenging times. Please know that all of the NCIA family appreciate your efforts.

Stay safe, and make sure you wear your masks, gloves and other protective equipment!

With continuing gratitude,

Herbert J. Hoelter
