On Thursday, December 7, 2017, NCIA celebrated the graduation of 40 veterans from the Herbert J. Hoelter Vocational Training Center. This marks the first graduating cohort since the grand opening of the center in September.
Of the 40 veterans, 21 graduated from the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class, 13 from the automotive class, and 6 completed the construction certification course.
Early last month, NCIA began getting these veterans in front of potential employers to line them up with jobs upon completing the program. Today, all 40 veterans walk out of our doors having received employment opportunities. Herb Hoelter, NCIA’s co-founder and CEO, was present at the graduation and stated: “I could not be more proud of our staff who made this program successful for our veterans”.
Gary Antonino, Director of Business Development, has been with NCIA since 2012. He directs the Vocational Training Center, which moved to Fells Point when the center opened in September.
When asked about the first cohort and the opportunity to take on the challenge of not only training our veterans but also providing them with employment opportunities, Gary replied: “Our objective at NCIA is to provide training and employment opportunities to the men and women that protected our country each and every day. It is an honor not only to provide the training, but also to make sure they are presented with the employment opportunities that they deserve. Working with our heroes is an inspiration every day.”
The second cohort begins December 18th with 60 new veterans entering the program to earn their opportunities at employment.
