The Herbert J. Hoelter Vocational Training Center is now open!

Classroom instruction will begin for over 50 participants, who will be trained in obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), HVAC repair and Automotive Repair.  This cohort will last 15 weeks, during which time NCIA’s workforce development team will be locating job opportunities in each respective field. It is NCIA’s goal to have 100% of the participants placed in living wage jobs at the end of their training.  Our case management staff will be available to assist graduates in this transition.  This effort is being funded by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

NCIA’s Charlotte team is pictured below.  We are fortunate to have developed an experienced and committed team of professionals to lead our efforts.  Katie Hoelter, who holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from UNCC and over ten years’ experience in social service agencies in Charlotte will be leading our efforts.  Joining her will be Christine Poltawsky and Kelly Brunk, both of whom have significant experience in the human service and criminal justice fields. Our workforce development efforts will be led by Bryant Coble, a graduate of Elon University and a business owner in Charlotte.

We are excited about the opportunities in front of us to assist veterans, returning citizens and the human service communities in Charlotte and thanks to all of our supporters who have helped make this happen!  Stay tuned for more updates!
