GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB :  The IEP Coordinator’s overall responsibility is to ensure that the school is in compliance with ALL mandates as dictated by COMAR regulations. In addition, the IEP Coordinator is responsible for acting as a liaison between the local school systems as well as parents, and agencies to the student’s that we serve. The IEP Coordinator is responsible for making sure student’s IEP’s are implemented and related services are accurately provided. The IEP Coordinator is responsible for Special Educator trainings on use of the online IEP.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates IEP Meeting
  • Communicates to Local School Systems, Parents, and outside agencies
  • Conducts IEP Trainings for Teachers and Related Service Providers
  • Amends IEP’s as needed
  • Reviews Records and ensures compliance on a regular basis

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.  Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Light:  Primarily sedentary position with ability to ambulate throughout the building.  Hearing, close and distant vision  are necessary. Use of hands for computer work.  Physical agility to administer intervention procedures in the event of aggressive behavior.  Ability to life up to 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Indoor environment, no exposure to weather, electrical hazards, etc.  Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
