Exceeding Their Potential

We believe that everyone can achieve and exceed their potential with the right support, especially children with disabilities. To this end, our Youth In Transition School (YIT) focuses on our students’ physical, psychological, intellectual, and social needs. We’re a Type I full day special education and related services program, serving students ages 11-21 with autism, emotional disabilities, and/or intellectual disabilities. Our mission is “to provide a structured learning environment that will support the maximum development of each student.” Through disability advocacy, attentive care, disability life skills training, and academic programming that is designed to inspire and elevate our students, the YIT is dedicated to changing lives, one child at a time.
Our Goals
The YIT strives to provide individualized education for each student, through the following strategies:
- Provide a safe environment for students to achieve success in school and in the community.
- Provide special education classroom instruction and related services.
- Work with students, their families, and local educational agencies toward moving students to their least restrictive environment.
We love to watch our students grow. Not only do they often reach their potential, but they often go far beyond it.
“To provide a structured learning environment that will support the maximum development of each student.”
``The Youth in Transition School provides a quality, all encompassing, educational program dedicated to addressing the needs of diverse learners.``
``Youth in Transition is the first place where many students find academic success.``
